mother

here by ivory toilet
i love you, i love you,
i love you

you are magnificent mother
you are most beauteous mother
here by empty bathtub

on soft pink bath rug you cradle
your head in bitter hands
let serpentine locks curl around

your cherub cheeks–
but the guts, mother, the blood
mother, a whirlpool you hide from me

here by ivory toilet
i love you, i love you,
i love you

  1. Well this poem certainly spoke to me. It is that personal, I could contextualize it within my own experience. That takes some doing.
