…And No One Knows

whether I think good
or evil.
Petty specks
clamor to get in my eye.
I’m losing ground,
majoring on the minors;
finding fault. Inept,
insincere, stewing in a slow poison,
waiting for rot to settle
into my bones.
This is all beyond you–no doubt,
fortunate– for it would otherwise
burn you
to gray ash.
