Mince Myself

ITS TIME–
to know m-y self
teeth all out
look at
m-e

and think
Oh–
is there Something
she said
straight UP

ITS TIME–
get on with it,
off it,
-one pulling
off

and
never
the same–
there
it is

day 15 NaPoWriMo

  1. I appreciate the lyric of Eliot. And when you write “teeth,” I think of Tennyson’s line about “Nature, red in tooth and claw.” Both works challenge reality against romanticizing. Your work–a gift to us living now–gets at reality, too. A pledge to know, to have it “there/it is.”
