bending limits

when i
wasn’t
looking

the partridge
in the peak
of the sun
turned back
in reverse
for me

from her bottom
celestial pole

so i closed
my eyes
as if in sleep
to push at
winter’s edge
employing
heavy eyelids

choosing
to believe
whatever’s around
the corner
has already passed
the pear tree

so
i probably
will too

  1. I like the way you included the partridge and pear tree allusions – so apt for the season. I’ve really come to enjoy your poetic style, Angie. It is very innovative.

  2. Hey Angie, thanks for adding your voice with this sloe-eyed pen. (Work has been hectic, only now am I making rounds.) Happy new year – I’m glad you joined the garden ~
