I’ve Got a Circular Saw

Would it surprise you to know I’m building
twig-by-twig by scrap pieces of red-wood,
my own nutty version of a world of well
&good intentions? My circular saw’s well
&sharp enough for new ideas. I’m building
concepts out of Manzanita trees. Who would
guess I’d be working with such knotty wood?
But she’s the only truth who stands up well
in full-fledged fires– my kind of building
block for building non-wood wishing well(s).

  1. Naughty? For sure knot. This is a cute one. Fun.
Did you tease your grammar teacher, Angie? (I did mine. I was a senior, she was young and just out of college, a pleasurable class.)

  3. What a fantastic title! When I saw it as the title of the post, I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or be afraid. So I tried both. Now I’ll read the substance. (After reading.) This is grand! I like the words so much, “But she’s the only truth who stands up well in full-fledged fires . . .” I understand that, if it survives, wood lasts longer than stone. And non-wood, of course, lasts forever. Thank you!

  4. Ha! Love that “naughty wood.”
I love the circular nature of this whole thing.
For me, the sound bump in this line: “my kind of building” also brought out the word “kindling,” which fits, yes? 😉

  5. I wish I could give a more substantial critique than to say I loved it. You have a way of wrapping me up in a quick breezy dance of images and just as deftly… you are done! Voila!
