Before he became unmanageable and kicked at the nurses in his stocking feet, I asked him for something I loved.

  2. I think this is an inspired piece. It tells so much about the past and the present for this one individual — and ultimately about your relationship to and with him. In totality, it evokes a subtle sadness. The use of the word “fastened” conveys both physical and mental fastening — and ultimately unfastening. It was a great read!
