This Tomato in Season

Let me rethink this…
This egg yolk in the sky
This iris in my eye
Old things

New things
This violent rush of wind
This curling tongue of fire
What is my shelf life?

Alone, in the kitchen
This tomato in season
Its flesh between sliced bread
Slippery seeds I suck up

  1. I love the way you put words together….gorgeous! I especially love that you wrote about the most rewarding piece of produce I grew this year. I grew 8 different varieties from seed and it was so rewarding to watch them go from seedlings, to plants to produce to yumminess in my family’s bellies!

    1. Wish I could have enjoyed home-grown tomatoes! It reminds me of growing up in Kansas. Unfortunately the drought here in California curbs gardening. Hey, for the Speakeasy prompt tomorrow I wrote a piece using all of the favorite “fluffy” words you said you liked on my About Page. I took yours as a challenge, hope that’s alright with you.

      1. I’m thrilled!!! I can’t wait to read it!
I’ve been working on my gargleblaster…I’ve decided to side-step the dark and try for a more silly spin.
Have a great day and I look forward to seeing what you wrote tomorrow 🙂
