Deconstruction

i can tell you this.
the meaning of this
poem is loneliness.
you don’t have to
read between the lines
or talk it up and over
against existentialism.
on this line I’ll place
a shriveling plum
which no one intends to eat
and which I will toss in the trash
tomorrow.
this poem ends with self
destruction.
this much i can tell you–

plums don’t turn into
raisins.

  1. This is one of those poems I read and think, I wish I had done that. lol
I particularly love “on this line I’ll place/ a shrivelling plum/ which no one intends to eat”. It also has a really strong opening. In summary, I dug it.
