Whiff of Smoke

Long after he died
I looked for him in the woods
Rolling cigarettes

For Carpe Diem

  1. Powerful memories in the tobacco — so much going on in this haiku, scent-wise — the smoke, the woods, the smell of unsmoked tobacco in itself — a wonderful haiku, really linking scent and memory. Brava!

      1. I’m glad you were able to translate that sensation into haiku for us. 🙂

My first grandfather is in the haiku about oil and hot dust; but my other grandfather could have been in a haiku about pipe tobacco. The smell was wonderful.

Thanks for sharing your memory with us 🙂
