Other Words

We ought to board
The train there’s
No getting off
Eat a bag of green apples
Sweeten our lives for a moment
Weld shut mortal doors
When pain comes, my mother
Lays down her vindictive eyes–
I’ve never forgiven my father

    1. Yep, tie dye from camp😄 My assignment was to pick 5 lines from other people’s poems and rearrange only those given words. My last line zings and comes from Stanley Kunitz’ “The Portrait.” His original was “my mother never forgave my father.”
