For Kendra

my heart’s eye
hugged
the ministry
of the moon

coming down
in collective
bits of sunshine
pouring past the sill

and no earth
stood between
her pearl bath
and my pillow

and these three
words pressed in-
first love
(and) mother

    1. She and I are kindred spirits. After seeing her first two on FB, I woke in the middle of the night to the brightest moon shining directly on me! I thought of Kendra right then. Loved the “visitation” which prompted some meditation on the governing lights and God who set them in their places.

    1. Thanks. I love the way a poem morphs from the larva stage into the butterfly it was meant to be. There is the struggle (constant revision) getting there. I kept changing this one even after I hit publish.
